We really need to start doing something. That is such a churchy statement that is filled with much more ambiguity then most people really think it does. I have said it a number of times, so I am not talking down to anyone whoever has said it or will say it.
The idea is [...]

The word refuge brings with it not simply the meaning of a ’safe place’ but actually ‘a safe place for those who are in real trouble.’
This word has been on my mind and heart the last couple of days as someone came over to my office the other day just as I was about to [...]

I wait with anticipation for January! My favourite shows to watch come on: 24, American Idol & a new session of the Biggest Loser.
However, this year I am disappointed with all three.
First, I think 24 has run its course–there is nothing new, nothing unexpected and perhaps the most exciting, action packed television series has seen [...]

‘Well your problems aren’t any worse then their problems.’
‘You know the Bible says, ‘all things work together for good.”

What kind of world would it be if everyone followed the Golden Rule?
Try to imagine it and the possibilities are endless–there would basically be no injustice anywhere in the world. There would be no need for working through difficult situations etc. Basically all evil would cease to be.
In more ‘real’ terms–there would be no mad [...]

The other night was a night of rocking with Miley Cyrus. Sara and I took the girls and enjoyed her concert trememndously.
There were two songs in particular that stand out for us (well, actually 15) but one is her most famous one: the Climb and the other is a newer one that will [...]

I have been reading a book recently called ‘the Family Friendly Church’ and it makes it seem like the book is going to be written one way but it kind of does a double turn on you. The writers after years of study and consulting other experts and the like have come to realize [...]

My friend, Patrick Mead, recently wrote about his job as a minister and talked about some of the jokes people make and we preachers sometimes make–’must be nice to work only one day a week!!!’
I like to combat that one wiht this: ‘if you had to work with the people I work with you would [...]
